Mayflower man accused of violating protection order 114 times

A Mayflower man was arrested Friday after he was accused of violating an order of protection more than a hundred times in two months, police say.

On Oct. 27, a Benton resident with an order of protection against Timothy Long, 41, told Benton police that Long had violated the order 114 times since August, when the order was issued, Benton Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Russell said.

Detectives began an investigation after they were provided with evidence of the purported violations.

“He used a couple of different avenues [to contact the victim],” Russell said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Long on Friday, and he was taken into custody by detectives at about 1:30 p.m. without incident, he said.

Long is charged with 114 counts of violation of an order of protection, stalking and harassing communications.

He's currently in the Saline County jail, and is scheduled for a bond hearing on Monday, Russell said.
