Fans run screaming to monsters on film

The surest way to spot Bigfoot is at the movies. Dozens of horror movies and comedies have shown the big lunk even bigger than life on screen, including these:

The Abominable Snowman (1957). Peter Cushing goes looking for Bigfoot by another name, the Yeti, in the snow-blown Himalayan mountains. Turns out, the gentle and wise Yeti is up there to hang cool and wait for people to go away.

"This creature may have an affinity for man, something in common with ourselves. Let's remember that before we start shooting." -- Dr. John Rollason (Cushing)

Harry and the Hendersons (1987). Lovable Bigfoot moves in with John Lithgow and his family. The beastly biped stayed on for a 1991-93 TV series version of the movie.

"I can be pretty hairy, too, y'know." -- George Henderson (Lithgow)

Willow Creek (2013). Comedian Bobcat Goldthwait's screechy cry could be likened to Bigfoot's. But here, Goldthwait turns director for a straight-on horror show about Bigfoot on the prowl in Northern California.

Willow Creek, Calif., is a real place. The Willow Creek Chamber of Commerce claims this town -- not Fouke, Ark. -- is the "Bigfoot capital of the world."
