LR police to give away Thanksgiving turkeys

The Little Rock Police Department, along with the Fraternal Order of Police and the Black Police Officers Association, will hand out 150 turkeys to families in need next week.

The turkey giveaway will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 25 at the 12th Street Station, located at 3917 W. 12th St.

The first 20 families to arrive will also receive a ham, Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said in an email.

The turkeys are first come, first served, so there is no need to register, Allen said.

Residents will be asked to drive to the 12th Street Station, remain in their vehicles and may receive one turkey per vehicle, police said.

Officers will direct traffic at the event.
