Beheading suspect out of hospital, in jail

NORMAN, Okla. — A man accused of beheading a woman at an Oklahoma processing plant has been released from a hospital and transferred to jail.

Alton Nolen is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 54-year-old Colleen Hufford. The 30-year-old is also charged with assault for allegedly attacking another employee Thursday before he was shot by a plant manager.

Cleveland County sheriff's office spokesman Meghan McCormick says Nolen was released from a local hospital at midday Wednesday and is being held at the county jail.

Hufford's relatives made their first public comments on the attack Wednesday, saying in a statement that her violent death is difficult to comprehend but they're thankful for the support from friends and family.
