Police: Arkansas man faces animal cruelty charges

TRUMANN — A northeast Arkansas man faces up to 20 counts of animal cruelty after police say they removed 20 pit bulls from a filthy home.

The Jonesboro Sun reports Trumann police arrested the man Thursday after neighbors complained of a foul smell. The city banned the breeds in 2011.

City Code Inspector Gary Anderson says the smell in the home was "unbearable." Police say dog feces covered the house.

Police say they're seeking an arrest warrant on 20 counts of animal cruelty and 20 counts of owning a banned breed. No arrests have been reported.
