DEAN'S AWARD

UALR College of Business presents honors to 2 grads

Mark Langston was named a distinguished alumnus and Susan Parke received the Dean's Award for Excellence on Oct. 1 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock College of Business at a Distinguished Alumni Luncheon held at the Little Rock Marriott.

Langston has a bachelor's in accounting from the university and is now chief financial officer at Life and Specialty Ventures LLC. In his acceptance remarks, he said the community has a responsibility to support the local university. That means supporting students on their educational journey. It's a win-win, he said.

Parke talked about the influence that being a UALR graduate had on her career. The owner of Beyond Cotton said that if she hadn't received her master's degree in business administration from UALR she wouldn't have had the confidence to become a small-business owner.

During the luncheon, five recent college of business graduates were named Grads to Watch. They were Liz Harris, Barrett Kerth, Rebecca McEachern, Shawn McGhee and Charley Elise Swann.

Guests were welcomed to the lunch by Jane P. Wayland, dean of the College of Business. Roby Brock served as master of ceremonies. Also speaking were UALR Chancellor Joel Anderson and the college's student ambassador KenDrell Collins.
