Fine arts

• Works by nearly two dozen current and retired art faculty members at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock go on display today in the UALR Faculty Biennial exhibition, Gallery I, Fine Arts Building, UALR, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock. There will be a reception, 5-7 p.m. Nov. 5. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. • "Energy & Elegance," featuring artwork by Steven Rockwell, Kelly Furr and Karlyn Holloway, goes on display with a reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday, at Mugs Cafe, 515 Main St., in North Little Rock's Argenta Arts District. • "Chimera," featuring recent work by Arkansas State University art department faculty members Nikki Arnell and Joe Ford, goes on display at 5 p.m. today in the Bradbury Gallery, ASU's Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Drive, Jonesboro. The exhibit will be up through Nov. 12; the artists will give a talk at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 in the gallery. Hours are noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, 2-5 p.m. Sunday, and by appointment. Admission is free . • Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock, will hold a reception 6-8 p.m. today for the artists -- Vicki Kovaleski, Emily Moll Wood, Tom Tull, Robin Tucker, Gary Wayne Golden, Tim Jacob, W. Michael Spain, Mark Johnson -- participating in Wildwood's first Art in the Park installation. The artwork will be on display 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday through Nov. 16. Admission to reception and the gallery space is free. • Adventure Theatre MTC will stage its touring musical production of Big Nate, based on the syndicated comic strip and book series by Lincoln Peirce, at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fine Arts Center, East Arkansas Community College, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City. • Jerron Paxton plays traditional old-time music on banjo, fiddle, piano and guitar Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View. He'll do a 45-minute set, 2-3 p.m., on the Outdoor Music Stage ($12, part of Craft Village admission) and a 60-minute set, 8-9 p.m., in the Large Auditorium ($12, doors open at 6, with the Lazy Goat String Band opening at 7). • The Arkansas Walk of Fame will induct four new members for 2014 -- actresses Joey Lauren Adams and Tess Harper, artist/blues historian George Hunt and the late Nick McDonald, a World War II Navy veteran whose 25 years on the Dallas Police Department included the capture and arrest of accused presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald -- at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Five-Star Dinner Theatre, 629 Central Ave., Hot Springs, across from the Walk of Fame, along the sidewalk by the Visitors Center in Historic Downtown Hot Springs.
