Cisneros, ex-HUD exec, to talk in LR

Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros will speak today at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock.

In 1981, Cisneros became the first Hispanic mayor of a major U.S. city -- San Antonio. In 1992, President Bill Clinton appointed Cisneros to be secretary of HUD.

After leaving HUD in 1997, he became president and chief operating officer of Univision Communications, the Spanish-language broadcaster that has become the fifth-most-watched television network in the nation.

Cisneros is currently a member of the advisory boards of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Broad Foundation, and was honored by the National Housing Conference as the "Housing Person of the Year."
