Body found in fire identified; case investigated as homicide

The body of a man found in a burning home Tuesday morning in Hope has been identified and police say they are investigating the case as a homicide.

The Hope Police Department said 20-year-old Thomas Youngblood of Hope was found dead in his home in the 200 block of North Pritchard Street after the fire was extinguished. The residence was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived about 2 a.m.

Assistant Chief Kimberly Tomlin said she could not release any information on what led authorities to conclude the death was a homicide, noting investigators were actively working on the case. She said she did not have information on the cause of death.
