2nd man charged in LR man's death

Police have charged a second suspect in the Feb. 28 murder of a Little Rock man.

Little Rock Police charged Nathaniel A. Eskridge, 30, of 7700 N. Chicot Road with first degree murder Monday in the shooting death of Cedric Pennington, 44. At the time of his arrest, Eskridge was being held in the Faulkner County jail, awaiting trial on multiple charges of theft by receiving.

The other suspect in the shooting, Meco Howard, was charged with Pennington's murder on Oct 3. Howard was also incarcerated at the time of his arrest, having been held in the Pulaski County jail since June 30 on charges including assault, robbery and forgery.

According to a Sept. 12 warrant, investigators found a spent .40-caliber casing near 8621 Baseline Road, the scene of Pennington's shooting. He died shortly after being transported to UAMS Medical Center.

Using the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, investigators tied the gun to a Feb. 18 instance in which Eskridge was suspected to have fired multiple shots near 9116 Merrivale Drive, about a block away from the location of Pennington's slaying, according to the warrant.

On Sept. 11, witnesses identified Eskridge through a series of suspect photos presented by homicide detectives.

Eskridge was transported Monday to the Pulaski County jail to be charged in Pennington's death before being returned to Faulkner County.
