The wife of a man accused of kidnapping and murdering real estate agent Beverly Carter now faces the same charges.
A Pulaski County sheriff's office arrest report shows Crystal Lowery, 41, was arrested Thursday afternoon at her Jacksonville home and is charged with capital murder and kidnapping.
Pulaski County sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said that the investigation of Carter’s death is ongoing, but investigators were able to gather enough evidence to serve Lowery with her arrest warrant Thursday.
"This investigation has never stopped, and we’ve said that all along,” Minden said. “This is something, through the investigative process that they happened to wrap up today.”
Minden said since the investigation is sealed, he couldn’t speak on what evidence lead investigators to arrest Lowery.
“She didn’t really say much to us, and right now she’s being taken to the regional detention facility,” he said.
Carter, 50, was reported missing Sept. 25 after going to show a home in Scott. After an intensive search involving law enforcement and a large group of Realtors and other volunteers, Carter's body was discovered five days later in a shallow grave in Cabot. Lowery's husband Arron Lewis, 33, was arrested Sept. 29 and has been charged with kidnapping and murder in her death.
Lowery's bond hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in Pulaski County District Court.
