Authorities identified a man shot Wednesday night in a disturbance along Interstate 630 in Little Rock.

Arkansas State Police said Elijah Bynum, 22, of Atlanta, Ga., was taken to UAMS Medical Center with a gunshot wound not believed to be life-threatening.

Police spokesman Bill Sadler said in a statement that the shooting remains under investigation but authorities believe Bynum was shot inside a car along the eastbound highway between Broadway and Chester streets. It remains unclear who fired the shot.

Police were called shortly after 6 p.m. to a report of a "motor vehicle crash and disturbance."

"Two vehicles did sustain minor damage, however the ongoing investigation at this juncture leads investigators to believe the shooting incident was isolated," Sadler wrote, noting that police don't yet know if the collision happened before or after Bynum was shot.
