Arkansas falls to Central Florida

Arkansas lost to Central Florida 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 on Friday at the Varney’s Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.

Meredith Hays had 13 kills for the Razorbacks (3-2), while Chanel Clark Bibbs had 6 blocks with 7 kills and 3 digs. Monica Bollinger had seven digs. Samantha Skinner had 8 kills.

ASU sweeps Tennessee-Martin

Arkansas State opened the Memphis Invitational with a 25-12, 25-17, 27-25 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Friday at the Memphis Invitational.

Sarah Kemp led the Red Wolves with 15 kills and Drew Jones added nine on a .412 attack percentage. Mallory Warrington had 28 assists and 13 digs, while Markie Schaedig led the team in digs with 17. Reis had three service aces and also added the squad’s only block of the match.

Arkansas State returns to action today in the Memphis Invitational against Ole Miss at 10 a.m. and then takes on Memphis at 7 p.m.

UALR tops Prairie View A&M, Miami

UALR defeated Prairie View A&M 25-7, 25-14, 25-20 and Miami 30-32, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 at the TCU Nike Invitational on Friday in Fort Worth.

Against Prairie View, Edina Begic had 11 aces, 11 kills and 11 digs.

Against Miami, Megan Mathis had a career-high 49 assists while Begic had 24 kills and 14 digs. Sonja Milanovic had 19 kills and 13 digs. Carolee Dillard had 5 blocks, 9 kills and 9 digs while Capri Rino had 12 digs.

UALR returns to action against Grambling State at 1 p.m. today and against TCU at 7 p.m.

UAM splits two

Arkansas-Monticello defeated Missouri Southern 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 25-16 on Friday and lost 25-11, 25-14, 25-11 to Western New Mexico at the Angelo State Invitational in San Angelo, Texas.

Against Missouri Southern, Jessica Cuba led the Cotton Blossoms with 8 kills and 5 blocks. Sydni Schulz had 7 kills and 2 aces. Aubrey Harrison had 4 kills and 5 blocks. Tasha Evans had 6 kills and 4 blocks. Kalia Kikugawa had 24 assists and 13 digs.

In the match against Western New Mexico, Schulz had 4 kills and 1 ace. Cuba had 4 kills and 1 block. Evans had 3 kills and 2 blocks.

Golden Suns split in Texas

Arkansas State defeated Molloy College 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 and lost to Washburn 25-17, 25-20, 25-16 on Friday in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Against Molloy, Emily Todd had 13 kills and 1 ace. Kaci Jackson had Madison Nagel had 10 digs. Sierra Nighswonger had 22 assists and Alyssa Kool had 11 assists.

Against Washburn, Todd had 10 kills while Nighswonger had 26 assists and Nagel had 26 digs.

Henderson loses two

Henderson State lost 25-10, 23-25, 25-13, 25-16 to McMurry and 25-13, 25-22, 25-16 to Central Oklahoma Friday at the HSU Classic at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.

Against McMurry, Caril Owens had 11 kills. Ryleigh Thompson had 33 assists and 10 digs. Against Central Oklahoma, Jessica Moss had 12 kills and Thompson had 24 assists.

Henderon State plays Fort Hays State at 11 a.m. today and Union University at 3 p.m.

UALR wins fifth consecutive

UALR’s women’s team won its fifth consecutive game of the season beating Northwestern (La.) State 1-0 at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex in Natchitoches, La.

Fall Garuba scored the Trojans’ goal in the 39th minute on a header. Bre IIkuf made one save in the first half in picking up the shutout.

Opening the season with a 5-0 record, the Trojans have the best start in the program’s history, eclipsing the 2002 team which opened the season 4-0. The five-game winning streak is the program’s first since the 2007 season.

Arkansas State falls to Mississippi State

Arkansas State’s women lost 5-0 to Mississippi State on Friday at the Arkansas State Soccer Complex in Jonesboro.

Shannen Jainudeen scored three goals for the visiting Bulldogs while Shelby Jordan and Hannah Carroll also had goals.

Mississippi State (2-3) goalkeeper Rhylee DeCrane made five saves and Tanya de Souza had three saves. Alex Philippe had two saves for Arkansas State.

Central Arkansas falls to Tulsa

Central Arkansas’ women lost 3-1 to Tulsa at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium in Tulsa on Friday.

UCA scored first at the 22:12 mark of the first half on a goal by Vanessa Randall with Alex Wurist assisting. Tulsa (5-0) scored two goals in a two-minute span to lead 2-1 at the half. Rachel Thun added the game’s final goal at the 70:02 mark.

Anna Hughes made seven saves for the Sugar Bears (3-1-1).

UCA plays at Oklahoma 1 p.m. on Sunday

FIELD HOCKEY

Hendrix falls to Wesley

Hendrix College lost 2-0 to Wesley College on Friday at the Salisbury Invitational in Salisbury, Md.

Gabryele Pochron made eight saves for Hendrix. Sarah Daniels made two saves for Wesley.

Renee Schneider and Devin Price had goals for Wesley.

Hendrix (0-4) plays Salisbury University at 9:30 a.m. today.
