MLK Expressway work to require lane closures

Work on U.S. 270/MLK Expressway in Hot Springs will require lane closures starting Monday, state highway officials said.

Crews will be doing routine maintenance, including cleaning and weed eating, along the expressway median, which will require closing the inside lanes of the eastbound and westbound routes within the moving work area, the state Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work will run between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, weather permitting, starting with the eastbound, inside lanes, highway officials said. The westbound lane closures will likely begin next week and run at the same times, the department said.

Highway officials say the number of lane-closure days may be reduced if the work goes faster than expected.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
