12 students charged with disorderly conduct at PB school

Twelve teenage students were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct Tuesday after fighting at a junior high school in Pine Bluff, police say.

Officer Richard Wegner, a spokesman for the Pine Bluff Police Department, said several students began fighting around 1 p.m. at Jack Robey Junior High School, located at 101 S. Olive St.

The fighting continued even as school resource and security officers intervened, Wegner said.

Pine Bluff police were called to assist with the disturbance. Twelve students, ages 14 to 15, were arrested at the school and taken to the Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center in Jefferson County, according to Sgt. David Defoor.

Police said no serious injuries or use of weapons were reported.

Some students were released from the juvenile facility to their parents, while others remained in custody as of late Tuesday afternoon, Defoor said.
