Parts of east Arkansas under flash-flood watch

LITTLE ROCK — Parts of eastern Arkansas are under a flash flood watch as a cold front moves through the state, bringing several rounds of showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued the watch for an area of eastern Arkansas stretching from Clay County southward to Phillips County. The watch includes the cities of Blytheville, Jonesboro, West Memphis and Helena-West Helena.

Forecasters say the watch is in effect through Friday evening.

Showers and thunderstorms are predicted throughout much of Arkansas on Thursday, and forecasters say some areas could see strong winds or large hail. The storms are expected to move out Friday night, followed by cool and dry conditions for the weekend.
