The Pulaski County Election Commission on Friday certified the results of the Sept. 16 annual school board elections and the vote on carving a Jacksonville/North Pulaski school system out of the Pulaski County Special School District.
The certified votes are the final, official results of the elections and are slightly changed from the vote totals reported on election night.
Bryan Poe, Pulaski County director of elections, said the changes are the result of seven provisional ballots that were approved for counting and an absentee ballot that arrived within the permitted time period for counting.
Complete and certified results on the proposed Jacksonville/North Pulaski school district are:
For 3,769
Against 218
The complete and certified results for the Little Rock School Board are:
Zone 1
Joy Springer 485
Norma Johnson 228
Zone 5
Jim Ross 379
Jody Carreiro 221
The complete and certified results for the North Little Rock School Board are:
Zone 5
Scott Teague 185
Patrick Lander 162
Zone 6
Sandi Campbell 333
J.T. Zakrzewski 292
Also on the ballots in the three Pulaski County school districts were the existing millage rates, as required by the state constitution. A majority vote in opposition to any of the millage rates would not have caused a change. The votes are sometimes seen as a gauge of public support or dissatisfaction with a school district.
The certified results for the Pulaski County Special School District's existing 40.7-mill tax rate are:
For 2,713
Against 1,255
In the Little Rock School District, the certified results on the 46.4-mill tax rate are:
For 1,036
Against 405
In the North Little Rock School District, the certified results on the 48.3-mill tax rate are:
For 661
Against 356
Immediately after the Pulaski County Election Commission vote to certify the election results, the Little Rock School Board's newest members, Springer and Ross, were sworn into office and were honored at a reception at the district's administration building.
