Head-on crash kills Knobel woman, 73

A 73-year-old woman died Sunday after a head-on collision in Knobel, according to Arkansas State Police.

Shirley Luttrell of Knobel was driving a 2002 Kia Sportage north on Arkansas 135 about 5 p.m. A 1994 Ford Ranger going south crossed the centerline and struck Luttrell's car head-on, police said.

Luttrell was transported to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where she died.

The driver of the pickup, 53-year-old Calvin Yancy of Corning, was injured. He was taken to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

According to a preliminary accident report, conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
