Murder suspect recaptured after Malvern escape

11:15 a.m. update:

A Hot Spring County jail inmate has been recaptured after escaping Sunday night, officials said.

Cornell Huell, 24, was recaptured and taken back to the Hot Spring County jail Monday morning, a Hot Spring County sheriff's official said.

The Hot Spring County sheriff’s office said it is searching for an escaped inmate.

Cornell Huell, 24, escaped from the Hot Spring County jail, where he was being held on charges including capital murder, and was last seen around the Perla area near the jail, deputies said after 11 p.m. Sunday. The jail sits at 215 E. Highland Ave. in Malvern, and Perla is a community just to the northeast.

Huell has brown eyes and black hair, stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 147 pounds, authorities said.

“Please do not come out of your homes and try and find this person on your own and do not try and apprehend,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
