Pedestrian hit in LR's River Market District

A pedestrian was hit by a car Saturday evening in Little Rock’s River Market District and suffered injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening, Little Rock police said Monday.

A driver was headed east on President Clinton Avenue when a Jacksonville woman ran out in front of her car about 7:19 p.m. and slipped on a wet trolley track about 75 feet west of Rock Street, a police report states. The pedestrian had gotten out of a car, passed behind it and was trying to cross the street when she was hit, according to the report.

It didn’t appear from surveillance video that the driver could have seen the woman before she was struck, police said.

After she was hit, the woman “bounced on the front of the car and hit the left side of a vehicle that was parked, and fell to the ground,” according to the report.

The pedestrian was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, including needing staples or stitches on the back of her head and a CT scan to determine whether she had a concussion, police said.
