DNC's Wasserman Schultz to speak at LR dinner

LITTLE ROCK — The chairman of the Democratic National Committee is headlining a fundraiser for the party in Arkansas as it tries to rebound from Republicans sweeping statewide and federal offices in the 2014 election.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was scheduled to speak Thursday night at a dinner in downtown Little Rock honoring former U.S. Sen. David Pryor and his wife, Barbara, for their service to the state Democratic Party. The dinner marks Wasserman Schultz's first trip to the state as DNC chairman.

The event comes months after an election in which Republicans swept statewide and congressional offices and expanded their majorities in the state Legislature.
