True Crue

Verizon Arena was chosen as one of the stops for Motley Crue’s “All Bad Things Must Come to an End” final tour with guest Alice Cooper.

Choral concert

The Arkansas Choral Society will present an influential but little-known work in a special concert, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. The University of Arkansas at Monticello Concert Choir and members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will join the ACS in performing Luigi Cherubini’s Requiem in c minor, which went on to influence works of Gabriel Faure and Giuseppe Verdi and was played at Ludwig van Beethoven’s memorial service in 1827. The concert program will also include works by George Frideric Handel, Franz Joseph Haydn and Beethoven. Tickets are $15, $10 for students, free for children under 12. Art party

Patrons will celebrate one of the state’s best-known theater companies at ArtWorks XXVII, 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, 601 Main St., Little Rock. Celebrity masters of ceremony include KATV’s Renee Shapiro, former Pulaski County Judge Buddy Villines and Hendrix College President William Tsutsui, who will auction artwork in the theater’s lobby. There will also be a silent auction of works by Arkansas artists and artisans, music, and drinks and hors d’oeuvres by local restaurants. Tickets are $50 and proceeds benefit The Rep. On stage

Harper Lee’s novel comes to life on stage with The Royal Players’ production of To Kill a Mockingbird at 111 S. Market St., Benton. The play, dramatized by Christopher Sergel, is directed by Frank O. Butler with performances at 7 p.m. today-Saturday and April 30-May 2, 2 p.m. Sunday and May 3. Tickets are $10, $8 for ages 65 and older, $5 for students.

The Royal Players will also hold auditions for its forthcoming production of Oklahoma! at 6:30 p.m. May 4-5 at the theater. The Rodgers & Hammerstein show will be directed by Kathy Bartholmey with music direction by Valerie Couch and choreography by Jenny Johnston. Those interested in auditioning should prepare a song in the style of the show with sheet music, prepare to execute some simple choreography and do cold readings from the script. Spring has sprung as the Red Octopus Theater presents The Peeps Show, “a show about spring, warm weather, rebirth and marshmallow candies.” The collection of sharp-edged comedy sketches includes “live coverage” of the Arkansas Legislature, hikes up Petit Jean Mountain and a PBS children’s show about Easter. Strings attached

Canadian cellist Roman Borys will bring his classical style as artist in residence at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway today and Saturday.

Borys will hold a string master class at 4 p.m. today and a chamber music master class and Q&A at 7:30 p.m., both in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall.

On Saturday, Borys will join the Conway Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Performance Hall. The concert, the last of the CSO’s 30th anniversary season, will include Ludwig van Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony. The Central Arkansas chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents a concert by Fayetteville native Graham Schultz, 8 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, 617 Louisiana St., Little Rock. Graham will present a program that includes Felix Mendelssohn’s Sonata in A Major and Dietrich Buxtehude’s Magnificat Primi Toni.
