Louisiana man gets 9 years for meth

A Louisiana man on Friday was sentenced to nine years in prison after methamphetamine was found in his Hot Springs hotel room last year, U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge said in a news release.

Jonathan Taylor, also known as "N.O.," 30, of Violet, La., pleaded guilty in December to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine after his July 2 arrest, the release states.

Hotel staff members contacted authorities on May 27 after they found what they thought was methamphetamine while cleaning a guest room, Eldridge said.

Taylor returned to the hotel room to find agents testing the substance and determining it was meth, Eldridge said.

He was questioned and admitted it was his room and his methamphetamine, Eldridge said.

The state Crime Laboratory confirmed he had 6.4 ounces of methamphetamine, authorities said.
