Legacies & Lunch Presents The Power of Food in the South, noon today at Central Arkansas Library System’s Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave. in Little Rock. Marcie Cohen Ferris, author of The Edible South: The Power of Food and the Making of an American Region, will discuss Southern food ways and how food helps further understanding of Southern culture and politics. Copies of Ferris’ book will be available for purchase, and Ferris will sign copies after her talk.

Legacies & Lunch is free, open to the public, and sponsored in part by the Arkansas Humanities Council. Attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch; drinks and dessert are provided. For more information, call (501) 918-3033.

Superfood for Super Seniors Event, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at County Club Village, 1925 Malvern Ave. in Hot Springs. The event will address how foods can impact and improve wellness and will feature a farmers market, cooking demonstrations and a food drive benefiting Jackson House crisis center. Admission to the farmers market is a donation of canned or nonperishable food such as peanut butter, canned fish or white meat chicken, canned fruit in juice, vegetable soup, oats or whole-grain cereal.
