Arkansas State Police along with Ashley and Drew County deputies are investigating the disappearance and apparent death of an Ashley County man, authorities said Friday.
Sam Arnold, 41, of Hamburg was reported missing July 27 after leaving work at a lumber mill. A Monticello woman is being held at the Drew County jail for questioning in connection to his disappearance, Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said in a statement.
A search is underway in southeast Arkansas for Arnold, but authorities on Thursday located a site on private property in Drew County where Arnold might have been killed, Sadler said. Authorities didn't release further details about the site or what led them there.
An investigation of the circumstances of Arnold’s disappearance continues, Sadler said.
