LITTLE ROCK — A subsidiary of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc., has reached an agreement to provide a one-megawatt solar array for Tri-County Electric Cooperative of Hooker, Okla.
Tri-County plans to offer its members the opportunity to purchase solar energy produced by the system through its new community solar program.
Michael Henderson, president of Today's Power Inc., said its solar array agreement with Tri-County provides maximum energy density and requires about 40 percent less space than traditional systems.
Tri-County's community solar facility is projected to generate more than 50 million kilowatts of power and prevent more than 40 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its 25-year useful life.
Today's Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc., a Little Rock-based utility service cooperative owned by 17 Arkansas electric distribution cooperatives.
