A new section of Arkansas 530 in Lincoln County and a newly constructed Arkansas 11 are scheduled to open Tuesday.

Together, the new highways will allow motorists to travel to U.S. 425 via Arkansas 530 without having to detour through Star City, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The new section of Arkansas 530 extends from Arkansas 114 to the Arkansas 11 Connector. The new Arkansas 11 begins at the community of Newton Chapel and extends east to U.S. 425.

Once the new sections are open to traffic, motorists should be aware that the crossing of Arkansas 530 at Arkansas 114 will require a stop for traffic on Arkansas 114, and the traffic traveling on Arkansas 530 will have the right of way, the department said. A new stop sign also will be installed on the old section of Arkansas 11 at Newton Chapel.

Adjustments to the contractor's schedule may be required as a result of weather or other unforeseen conditions, the department said. The Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a contract for this project in March 2012 to Graves and Associates.
