Bar of soap will remedy that, Mom

Houston Texans Coach Bill O'Brien doesn't want his mother watching HBO's Hard Knocks.

Too late.

O'Brien's mother Anne told KHOU-TV in Houston on Tuesday night that she wishes her son wouldn't use so much profanity on the show, which is featuring the Texans this year.

"I think it's one thing when you're coaching the kids and involved in football and practices," Anne O'Brien said, adding that it's another thing when the whole world is watching.

Anne O'Brien said her son doesn't use profanity away from the football field.

"To be honest with you, he doesn't talk like that when he's home at all," she said. "Well, he's never talked that way around me."

Profanity aside, Anne O'Brien is thrilled about the show.

"Oh, I loved it. I thought it was great," she said. "His openings when talking to the new kids and introducing them to Houston; I'm sure he works at that so that they do get to know one another."

Anne O'Brien also assured Houston fans that Bill, 45, will do whatever it takes to win.

"He really cares a lot about bringing a good team for them to support and he's working very hard to bring that about, and I hope you give him all the support you can because he really cares," she said.

So, about Bill's profanity, Mrs. O'Brien?

She just wants her son to "just say a little prayer."

Fishing for a part

New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard took to Twitter on Tuesday and asked actress Amy Schumer if she needed any tall extras for her future movies.

"Hey @amyschumer, next time you make a movie and need a 6'6" extra I'm available. I can blend in anywhere," Syndergaard, 22, tweeted.

Schumer, who starred in Trainwreck, one of the summer's biggest movies, responded.

"I loved you in 'Adventures in Babysitting,' " Schumer said, referring to the 1987 motion picture where the 8-year-old daughter Sara was obsessed with Thor. Thor is also Syndergaard's nickname.

Rousey at the movies?

If director Kevin Smith had a say, he is all for UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey landing the lead role in the movie Captain Marvel, which is expected to hit theaters in 2018.

Rousey, 28, expressed interest in the role during a Reddit Q&A session, and fans have created renditions of her dressed as the character. The film is the first in the Marvel series to be headlined by a female superhero.

"You see her in that picture? Come on. You don't even need to think at this point, there's an image," Smith told TMZ.com. "Lord knows she's one of the only people who would play a superhero that could actually beat the s*** out of somebody."

Rousey is no stranger to the movies. She's had parts in Furious 7 and Entourage, both released earlier this year.

He said it

From Brad Dickson of the Omaha World-Herald:

• "At a Texas grocery store a man was arrested for allegedly trying to shoplift sushi. So two weeks before the season begins, it sounds like Florida State found its quarterback."

• "An Alabama football fan waited in line four days to be first at Crimson Tide Fan Day. Actually, in Alabama, this is an acceptable excuse for missing work."

• "Pete Rose announced recently that he voluntarily took a lie detector test. I'm guessing he was asked if he ever bet on rugby."
