News and notes
• Catcher Stuart Levy (Arkansas State) was promoted Thursday to the high-A Frederick (Md.) Keys by the Baltimore Orioles from their Gulf Coast League rookie team. Levy batted .255 with 17 RBI in 18 Gulf Coast League games. Frederick radio broadcaster Geoff Arnold said Levy was promoted to take the place of catcher Daniel Fajardo, who was injured during the Keys' doubleheader at Potomac, Md. (high-A Nationals) on Tuesday. Arnold added he did not know how long Levy would remain with the Keys.
• Former Arkansas Razorbacks pitcher Nolan Sanburn was activated from the disabled list by the Birmingham Barons (AA White Sox) on Aug. 20. Sanburn was originally placed on the disabled list June 2 because of shoulder tightness and spent over a month on the DL before being activated on July 8. He was placed back on the disabled list on July 16 with the same issues. Sanburn has made two appearances since being activated. He allowed 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 1 inning against the Mississippi Braves (AA Braves) on Aug. 21. He followed that with another one-inning appearance Aug. 24 against the Jacksonville Suns (AA Marlins), in which he did not allow any runs or hits.
• Outfielder Jonathan Davis (Central Arkansas/Camden) was placed on the 7-day disabled list by the Dunedin (Fla.) Blue Jays (high-A Blue Jays) on Aug. 19. He has not played since Aug. 14, when he went 2 for 3 with 1 stolen base in a game at Brevard County (high-A Brewers) on Aug. 14. The extent of Davis' injuries is not known and team officials did not respond to a request for comment.
