26-year-old killed while standing outside disabled vehicle on highway

A 26-year-old man was killed Monday after being struck by a pickup in Lee County, according to Arkansas State Police.

Kristopher J. Wright of Bradford was standing outside of his non-functioning 1973 Ford vehicle on County Road 314 about 8 p.m. Monday when a 1993 Chevrolet pickup attempted to go around Wright's vehicle, striking him, state police said in a report.

Wright was transported to Helena Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 9:10 p.m. Monday, according to the report.

Travel conditions at the time of the accident were described as rainy and wet.

The death was the 475th in a crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
