Meat co-op teams up with Chef Shuttle to offer monthly deliveries

Grass Roots Farmers, an Arkansas meat cooperative, has begun a partnership with Chef Shuttle to begin monthly home deliveries to customers in Little Rock.

The co-op, which specializes in sustainable meats from local farms, will begin offering monthly home delivery of 12-pound boxes containing a mix of frozen beef, pork and chicken, or just chicken.

The $120 boxes each arrive with a unique assortment of cuts depending on what is available, said Grass Roots Farmers spokesman Elizabeth Quinn.

The co-op offers delivery of 50-pound boxes every three months through its own delivery service.

Quinn said the group began working with Chef Shuttle several weeks ago to figure out logistics and began services with the delivery of close to 50 turkeys ahead of Thanksgiving.

For the holidays, the co-op will offer additional delivery of turkeys and smoked meat boxes through Chef Shuttle, Quinn said.

The co-op will not change the farmers it uses or the types of meat, Quinn said.
