Former University of Central Arkansas Chief of Staff Jack Gillean will drop his appeals of March 2014 commercial burglary convictions in a deal approved Monday by a judge.

In exchange, prosecutors won't push for additional charges or jail time tied to reports from authorities that Gillean tested positive for drugs on six dates while he was free on an appeal bond, Gillean's attorney said after Monday's hearing.

Gillean surrendered to the sheriff's office in Conway late Tuesday after a circuit judge ordered his arrest.

A jury convicted Gillean, 59, of six counts of commercial burglary in March 2014. Until Tuesday, Gillean had been free on probation, pending his appeal, which was denied last week.

A jury sentenced Gillean to three years in prison, fined him $35,000 and gave him 120 months of probation in the burglary case, which resulted from a test-cheating scandal at UCA.
