Traffic remained delayed at University Avenue near the Interstate 630 ramps as of about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday after an accident involving at least two vehicles, Little Rock police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said.

Travel is expected to be impacted for "an extended period of time" in the area, the Little Rock Police Department said in a tweet at 2:17 p.m., minutes after the accident occurred.

Handout photos from the scene south of Sears showed two vehicles affected: a white car with damage to its front and an overturned maroon SUV with its front windshield and a driver's side window gone. Objects near the SUV were strewn about at the I-630 westbound on-ramp on University Avenue.

McClanahan said emergency responders, including fire, police and MEMS, remained on scene Wednesday afternoon to respond to the accident.

A timeframe for when the area would be cleared of the two vehicles in need of towing was not known, he added.

Information regarding the exact number of vehicles involved, as well as people inside the vehicles at the time of the crash, was not immediately available.
