• Five sprints Saturday produced a balance of speed and late-running winners as three scored in front-running fashion and two rallied from midpack or farther, and 4 of the 5 runner-up finishers were closers. The only wire-to-wire route winner was 2-5 favorite Take Charge Brandi, and the remaining three winners and runner-ups were a mix of stalkers and late-runners. Overall, this was a fair day, but was a little tougher on speed than most.
