Craigslist seller fatally shot

A man found shot at a Little Rock industrial property late Wednesday afternoon died from his injuries Thursday morning, police reported.

Police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said the victim had advertised a motorcycle on Craigslist, and investigators believe he was killed by someone posing as a buyer.

Officers responded about 5:25 p.m. to Allied Way, a dead-end road off West 65th Street adjacent to a distribution warehouse. Police found Frank Steinsiek lying in a parking lot. Steinsiek, 56, had been shot in the head and torso. He was taken to UAMS Medical Center and underwent surgery before he died.

Steinsiek was unable to speak to investigators after being shot, Allen said.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots and saw a white Ford pickup leaving the scene, according to a police report. The pickup was towing a dark-colored utility trailer with a yellow motorcycle.

Officers searched the area but made no arrests. They later recovered the pickup on Simpson Street south of Arkansas 365, about 5 miles northeast of the killing.

Police were searching for the trailer and motorcycle, a 2009 yellow and black Yamaha R1, late Thursday.

Steinsiek, an appliance technician who lived in Sherwood, posted the motorcycle for sale on Craigslist on Jan. 21. He had been asking $8,000 for the vehicle.

Allen said investigators recovered surveillance footage from the scene, but it was unclear Thursday if it had yielded any evidence.

No description of the suspect was available.
