Calvin Bernard Williams, 23, of North Little Rock and Ralph Armstrong, 25, of Sherwood have been charged with murder in the death of Michael Cordell Strickland, 24. Police said the men were involved in a shootout Tuesday at Americas Best Value Inn, 7900 Scott Hamilton Drive. Strickland was found dead in a first-floor room with a gunshot wound in the head.

Jamie Clayton, 22; Kalone McGee, 25; and Williams were each found with gunshot wounds that night at UAMS Medical Center.

Williams, who was shot in the chest, was released Thursday from the hospital and arrested. In addition to murder, he faces charges of first-degree battery and committing a terroristic act.

Police said that Armstrong, under the advice of an attorney, surrendered at the police substation on West 12th Street on Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Armstrong is also charged with first-degree battery and committing a terroristic act.

McGee, who was shot in the leg, was treated at the hospital and released without charges.

Clayton was treated for gunshot wounds in both legs. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

Police said an argument among the men led to gunfire. Details of the dispute have not been released.

Investigators recovered about 22 bullet casings around the room where Strickland, also known as "Lil Mike," was found dead.

Clayton and Williams are both felons who had been on probation.

Clayton negotiated guilty pleas to charges of second-degree battery and aggravated assault after a shootout with Little Rock police in 2013. He and an officer were grazed by bullets.

Williams was convicted of theft by receiving in 2013 and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver the previous year.

Armstrong, Clayton and Williams were being held in the Pulaski County jail late Friday. No bond had been set for Armstrong and Williams. Clayton was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond.
