Bush-era adviser to speak on 'big data'

A former White House chief information officer will speak Monday at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

Theresa Payton, the first woman to have that position, served then-President George W. Bush and more than 3,000 members of the executive office from May 2006 until September 2008.

Payton is the founder and chief executive officer of Fortalice, a team of cybercrime fighters protecting against Internet predators. Her lecture, "Privacy in the Age of Big Data," highlights the outcomes of digital surveillance and data collection while also outlining those forms of data collection to which we may not consent and of which we are likely unaware.

A book signing will follow the noon lecture in Sturgis Hall. Seats can be reserved by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
