Oklahoma police officer cleared in fatal shooting

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — An Oklahoma police officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing after his body camera captured him fatally shooting a fleeing suspect last month.

The Tulsa World reported that Muskogee County District Attorney Orvil Loge released a statement Monday stating that the suspect was a threat to Officer Chansey McMillin and other individuals at the time of the shooting Jan. 17.

The video shows Terrence D. Walker running from a church where McMillin had been questioning him about threats he had made to an ex-girlfriend. When Walker reached to retrieve an item that fell from his pants, McMiliin fired five shots, striking him three times.

A second officer recovered a loaded gun from Walker's body, which police say he pointed at McMillin moments before he was shot.

The video was released to the public.
