U.S. 71 comment sought in Bella Vista

The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, in conjunction with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, has determined an amendment to the region's Transportation Improvement Program is needed to include a planning study of U.S. 71, which is called Bella Vista Way through the city of Bella Vista, from Interstate 49 to the Missouri state line.

The study is to evaluate the need for intersection improvements to improve safety and traffic flows.

A two-week public comment period on the proposed amendment is open and will run through March 7.

Information on the proposed amendment is available at www.nwarpc.org, and at the regional planning office, 1311 Clayton, in Springdale.

Written comments are encouraged via email, at cscott-silkwoo@nwarpc.org or by mail.

Should substantial negative comments be received during the public comment period, the proposed amendment will go to the regional planning Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Committee at their next meetings.
