Archiving has begun on Beebe's collection

JONESBORO — A project archivist at Arkansas State University has begun processing memorabilia from former Gov. Mike Beebe's eight years in office.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that Kristi Nedderman is going through nearly 400 storage file boxes that include gubernatorial papers, videos and photographs that Beebe donated to the university in September 2014.

Nedderman is photographing each item. When she is done, she will decide how to catalog the memorabilia.

Nedderman said her goal is to figure out what story the collection wants to tell, and the best way to tell it.

The collection is expected to be available to the public in about three years. A 600-square-foot area near the school's Dean B. Ellis Library is being renovated for exhibits related to Beebe's place in Arkansas history.
