Man shot in alley in LR, police say

A man found suffering from a gunshot wound early Sunday in the 1900 block of South Harrison Street in Little Rock said he was shot in a nearby alley, authorities said.

The victim, 41-year-old Tommy Casey, suffered a possible internal injury, though his condition wasn't known Monday, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Authorities say they responded about 2:15 a.m. and found Casey lying on his side outside the front passenger door of a 2002 Chevy Tahoe that had hit a telephone pole in the area.

Casey told investigators he was in an alley nearby when he was shot, though he "could not provide exactly where the incident occurred or suspect information," the report said.

Another man on the scene told detectives he was driving with Casey in the passenger seat when they picked up a man said to be Casey's friend and drove to an alley behind the 2200 block of South Tyler Street, according to the report.

The unidentified man, listed as the suspect in the shooting on the report, demanded the driver's wallet but didn't take it, the report added, before getting out and jumping a fence. It wasn't clear at what point Casey was shot.

The driver told police he didn't know "how the vehicle collided with a telephone pole." Police reported finding a bullet casing on the floorboard behind the driver seat.

The gunman is described as black man in his 20s who stood 6 feet tall and weighed about 190 pounds. No arrests have been made.
