Pregnant woman in critical condition after shooting

A North Little Rock woman is in critical condition after she was shot in her left thigh Thursday morning, police say.

Police responded about 7:29 a.m. to UAMS Medical Center where they were notified that 27-year-old Shalanda Clarks was dropped off at the hospital by an unknown man driving a silver Marquis or Crown Victoria, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Clarks was immediately taken into surgery due to blood loss. She is 14 weeks pregnant and her injuries are life-threatening, UAMS doctors told police.

The shooting took place at 7:15 a.m. at 4301 W. Markham St., Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Cassandra Davis said in an email.

The vehicle was found unoccupied in the Summit House apartment parking lot at 400 N. University Ave. and is being processed for evidence.

No arrests have been made.
