BASEBALL

Cardinals Caravan coming to Jonesboro

The St. Louis Cardinals will be making a stop Saturday afternoon on their 2015 Cardinals Caravan in Jonesboro.

The event will be held at the Mall at Turtle Creek at 12:30 p.m. and will feature current and former Cardinals players and a question-and-answer session emceed by team broadcaster Mike Claiborne.

This year’s lineup includes second baseman Kolten Wong, pitcher Carlos Martinez, infielder Greg Garcia and catching prospect Cody Stanley. Former Cardinals pitchers Alan Benes and Cal Eldred are scheduled to appear as well.

UAFS men rout Oklahoma Panhandle

Six players scored at least 10 points as the Arkansas-Fort Smith men routed Oklahoma Panhandle State 104-72 on Thursday night at Oscar Williams Fieldhouse in Goodwell, Okla.

DaVaunta Williams led the Lions (8-7, 4-3 Heartland Conference) with 23 points. Dusan Stojanovic scored 17 points, Seth Youngblood had 13 points and Kenny Martin had 12 to go with 13 rebounds. Josh Harmon and Miha Glavas added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Antonio Manns Jr. scored a game-high 27 points for the Aggies (3-11, 1-5).

UAFS women get road victory

The Arkansas-Fort Smith women forced a season-high 33 turnovers that led to 42 points in a 97-59 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State at Oscar Williams Fieldhouse in Goodwell, Okla.

The Lady Lions (7-6, 5-1 Heartland Conference) have won four consecutive and moved above .500 for the first time since their season-opening victory against Cameron University. Jasmine Brainard led UAFS with 21 points. Sydney Franklin and Candice Followwell had 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Hannah Tatum scored 15 points to lead the Lady Aggies (2-13, 0-5).

Howard, Williams Baptist men win

Tevin Howard finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds as the Williams Baptist men beat Harris-Stowe (Mo.) State 79-69 in Walnut Ridge.

James McClain scored 16 points while Abel Yekeh added 13 for the Eagles (8-6, 6-3 American Midwest Conference).

Harris-Stowe (3-12, 2-8) was led by Jalen Fletcher with 15 points.

John Brown women lose

The John Brown women’s team lost 69-59 at Texas Wesleyan on Thursday night in Fort Worth.

Lauren Rogers led John Brown (6-10, 1-4 Sooner Athletic Conference) with 20 points, including five three-pointers. Elian Fernandez added 16 points.

Texas Wesleyan (11-5, 3-2) was led by Amy Easley with 18 points.

Hamilton leads Arkansas Baptist women

Emani Hamilton scored 27 points and Arkansas Baptist (6-14) beat North Arkansas College 86-59 in Little Rock.

The Lady Buffaloes travel to Baton Rouge Community College on Monday.

ATHLETICS

UCA places 89 on honor roll

The University of Central Arkansas placed 89 athletes on the 2014 Southland Conference Fall Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, the school announced in a release Thursday.

UCA’s total tied for the second-most in the conference. UCA also had 15 athletes with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Sophomore Jatavious Wilson and junior Jonathan Woodard were named to football’s All-Academic team. Senior Alicia Dittrich and sophomore Evie Grace Singleton were named to volleyball’s All-Academic team while senior Vanessa Randall was named to the soccer All-Academic team.
