Panel to discuss Whipping Man

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre's producing artistic director, Bob Hupp, will host a panel discussion today in conjunction with the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock on the forthcoming production of The Whipping Man.

In the post-Civil War drama, Jewish Confederate officer Caleb DeLeon returns from the war badly wounded to find his family missing and only two former slaves, Simon and John, remaining. As DeLeon, Simon and John wait for the family's return, they wrestle with their shared past as master and slave, digging up long-buried family secrets, as well as new ones.

The Whipping Man was the winner of the 2011 John Gassner New Play Award from the New York Outer Critics Circle.

Seats for the noon discussion in Sturgis Hall at the Clinton School can be reserved by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
