Rape in UA dorm reported to police

Correction: An 18-year-old University of Arkansas at Fayetteville student declined to pursue a criminal complaint after reporting to police on Jan. 16 a sexual assault at an on-campus residence hall, and police do not plan to forward information to a prosecutor unless the student decides to pursue a complaint. FAYETTEVILLE -- An 18-year-old University of Arkansas at Fayetteville student told university police early Friday morning that she had been raped by an acquaintance at a residence hall on campus police said.

The woman told police the rape took place between 2 and 3 a.m. at a room in Pomfret Hall, Capt. Gary Crain said. An 18-year-old man, also a UA student, has been identified by police for questioning, Crain said.

Crain said a prosecutor will review evidence to determine if charges will be filed.
