1928 Sherwood home a history-tour stop

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program’s next lunchtime-history stop will be at the Matthews-Clauson-McCullough House in Sherwood on Feb. 6, Director Frances McSwain said Friday.

The large, Craftsman-style home at 10226 Miller Road was built in 1928 by the Justin Matthews Co. in the Pope Place Addition of Sylvan Hills, the agency said. The home “features a stone portico, banks of casement windows, and false half-timbering in the gable ends,” according to a Historic Preservation Program statement.

The home was owned by Donald and Evelyn Clauson from 1944 to 1950, when it was sold to Murray and Martha McCullough.

The noontime tours, which are free and public and feature a brief lecture and a look at the property, are also scheduled for the following times and places:

• March 6, Old U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, 300 W. Second St., Little Rock.
