Arkansas' Irwin wins pole vault in Kentucky

Arkansas senior Andrew Irwin won the pole vault competition at the Rod McCravy Memorial at Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky.

Irwin cleared 18 feet, 4 3/4 inches, which was a meet record, the top mark in the SEC this season and the No. 2 mark in NCAA competition in 2015. Irwin tried 19-0 3/4 three times, but failed.

Other top performers for the Razorbacks included the 1,600-meter relay team of Jarrion Lawson, Marqueze Washington, Omar McLeod and Eric Janise, which finished fifth in 3 minutes, 11.05 seconds. Kemroy Campbell finished third in the 3,000 at 7:55.41, while freshman Alex George was sixth in the 1,600 at 4:09.42.

Janise finished seventh in the 400 in 47.34. Ryan Thomas was ninth in the 800 (1:50.73).

In women's action, Dominique Scott won the women's mile with a personal best of 4:32.48 which set an Arkansas and meet record. Diane Robison was sixth in 4:44.47. Therese Haiss was eighth in 4:46.52 which was another personal record and Jessica Kamilos was ninth in 4:46.72.

In the women's 3,000, Valerie Reina finished ninth in 9:35.49 and Regan Ward was 10th in 9:38.13, both personal bests

Daina Harper was 11th in the 400 in 54.40 and Micah Dennis was 11th in the shot put with a best effort of 45-0 1/4.

BASKETBALL

Arkansas Baptist women win

The Arkansas Baptist College women defeated Southern University at Shreveport 69-47 on Saturday in Little Rock.

Meyonsha Riddles led Arkansas Baptist (9-14) with 17 points.

In the men's game, sophomore Deonta Thomas led the Arkansas Baptist with 22 points in a 82-74 victory over Southern Shreveport.

The Buffaloes (13-9) also picked up 14 points from Mike Ayers, 13 from Dexter Porchia and 11 from D.J. Reed.
