Condition critical for NLR woman

A North Little Rock woman is in critical condition after she was shot in the head early Saturday morning, according to a news release.

At 12:27 a.m., North Little Rock police were called to 824 W. 36th St., where Horace Macklin told officers a black man had shot his girlfriend, according to an arrest report. The woman, 43-year-old Karen Curry, was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock with a gunshot wound to the head.

After officers interviewed 58-year-old Macklin, he told them he shot Curry, according to police. Macklin was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic battery. He was still listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing.
