The Travs pulled within 5-2 in the top of the third inning on Blake Gailen's groundout and Wade Hinkle's RBI single, but Frisco added a run in the bottom of the fourth for a 6-2 lead.
Gailen hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 6-4. Frisco, however, scored twice in the seventh and a run in the eighth to pull away from the Travs.
Michael Snyder's RBI single in the top of the ninth pulled Arkansas within 9-5, but that was all the Travs could muster.
Travs starter Michael Brady (3-4) allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings, striking out 4 and walking 2.
Anthony Bemboom and Hinkle each had three hits to lead the Travs offensively. Arkansas outhit Frisco 14-12.
Adams led Frisco, going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Chad Bell (3-9) earned the victory for Frisco. Bell pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1.
ROCKHOUNDS 9, NATURALS 8
After taking a 5-0 lead in the second inning, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals could not maintain the advantage and lost 9-8 to the Midland RockHounds before an announced crowd of 2,801 on Tuesday night at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas.
An RBI double by Parker Morin and a two-run double by Raul Mondesi sparked the Naturals’ five-run second inning. But the RockHounds answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a passed ball and Chad Oberacker’s RBI groundout.
In the fifth, J.C. Sulbaran (4-7) came on for the Naturals in relief of starter Miguel Almonte with a 6-3 lead and surrendered 5 runs on 5 hits — the first being a leadoff home run by Colin Walsh — before being pulled after recording only 1 out.
The Naturals pulled to within 9-8 with two runs in the ninth on Bubba Starling’s sacrifice fly and a Frank Schwindel RBI groundout. But Ramon Torres grounded out to end the game.
