Two employees were shot in an apparent attempted robbery at a Chick-fil-A in Conway late Tuesday night, authorities said.

The gunman escaped and hasn't been found. Police said it appeared preliminarily that the employees' injuries were not life-threatening.

Conway Police Department spokesman Latresha Woodruff said it happened shortly before 11 p.m. after the chain's location on Prince Street at Farris Road just west of Conway High School.

Woodruff said the gunman met an employee who was taking out the trash and then forced him back inside through a rear door. A struggle quickly developed in the restaurant's back area, Woodruff said, and two employees were shot.

The gunman and one of the victims ran opposite ways from the building, Woodruff said, noting that it's unclear if the assailant got in a vehicle in the area. He was described only as a light-skinned black male who was wearing a hoodie, though Woodruff said authorities were reviewing surveillance from the business and others nearby in the hopes of providing a more detailed description.

The man did not escape with any cash, though Woodruff said police "definitely believe" he was attempting to rob the business.
